Tomorrow on CN HQ - Clarence

Don't miss one of CN's hits of the moment which caused such a storm here and there: Clarence! Tomorrow at 15:20, weekend catch-up at 07:20 and 14:50.

My avatar is now Clarence

This morning I decided to change my Toonzone avatar to WMania's Clarence avatar.

I've changed it because of this.

Confirmation bias

This is something that looks very psychological. I'd like to thank Toonzone user Red Arrow :D.
Everybody suffers confirmation bias and the backfire effect.
"You don't need to hate CN PT forever", he says. I'll have to hate it as long as it's the only CN I get (until the return of CN HQ, which I am still awaiting). There are thousands of reasons to hate CN PT (like the dubbing, the punctuality, the quality and many more), but there is one thing I like: the Portuguese Clarence theme! I like it more than anything on CN PT!
And that is to despise the fact that when a channel can be bad, something can be good! I was expecting a good dub as soon as the theme song ended. And then came Clarence's voice (which can be seen on my blog as a "torture festival").
But still, who knows that one of the worst channels around can have something good? I have listeneded to the Clarence theme song more times than watching an episode of it and any other modern CN show dubbed into my language.
My thanks to whoever made the Portuguese version of the Clarence theme song. You have done what must be the first thing that CN PT has done right.

More Olympic coincidences

Tomorrow morning on this very blog

Don't miss the CN PT Gala of Shame, plus a few more surprises as well!

"HQ" and bug-less CN HQ and BM HQ promos

You can find tons of 2014 CN HQ and BM HQ promos on this Vimeo account. Good for me because I'm catching up on what I lost. No news about the return, though.

The official mascot of the 2016 Olympics

I can't believe it.

Isn't the one on the left a strange cross breed between Finn the Human inside Jake the Dog shaped like Gumball Watterson?
And isn't the one on the right a lookalike of one of those Japanese TV mascots?

The Announcement

DATELINE: November 27th, 2013. Sometime between 10:00 and 10:10.
I already knew that Boomerang and TCM were about to be removed from my TV provider. I was skeptical about CN HQ, which I thought that it was supposed to go 24/7.
I entered the NOS website (considering that this happened in 2013, it was still ZON), went to see CN's schedule and I was in shock.
They now had CN PT's schedule starting from the 3rd of December.
The shock continued and I shared the fateful info on the Toonzone forums and show it to my friends.

The 1st Anniversary of The End of CN HQ in Portugal

A special event here on the blog, starting today and ending next Wednesday. Sad posts on the channel plus a special Gala of Shame next Saturday.

La CQ airing on Ecuatorian late night TV

Just found out on Ecuavisa's website: they are showing La CQ for one hour at around 03:15 local time.
If you live in Ecuador, then congratulations. You are living the magic sounds at that time of nightT! You are dreaming about it!

Kurdish Ben 10

You've read the title. There is a Kurdish version of Ben 10. According to my investigations, it aired on KurdMax.
This is LITERALLY the worst version of the theme song ever. It's the Kurdish equivalent of the "Heng Yuan Xiang, official sponsor of the Beijing Olympics" ad.
Thanks to szjdfgs who found it by trying to make a multilanguage video.
Plus it's all in Arabic, so I can't understand what's going on. You can write the language with Latin letters.

Starting tomorrow

A series of posts related to the first anniversary of the loss of CN HQ in Portugal.

Hiru TV's B10: AF closing logo

Hiru TV has an unbranded CN block, you can see the CN bug at the very start.
Hiru TV doesn't show the end credits of the CN shows in their dubs, so they did that in order not to include the last few notes of the theme.

Pedro Galvão-Markl's Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Yuberiyachau, yuberiyachau (ゆべりやちゃう、 ゆべりやちゃう)
Saint Antonin coming to town

New e-mail underway

This time the e-mail will probably be the last, unless they answer me and make it a Christmas miracle - the return of CN HQ, BM HQ and TCM HQ to Portugal.
Also, petitions don't work.

Toonzone is down

Once again, the Toonzone forums are down.
Every time this happens they don't warn us hours or minutes before it happens. It also says that they want us to check their Twitter account for updates, but they rarely do about that, just normal stuff.

What about the December schedules?

Next month. It will also mark the first anniversary of the loss of CN HQ.

Clarence premiere date confirmed

Clarence will premiere on December 1st with just one segment at 15:20 with no repeats.
CN PT will premiere it two days prior.

Procrastination

It seems that I procrastinate for my blog frequently, I promise that I idon't have time right now to make some stuff.

CN Arabic disrespects Islamic permissions by showing a kiss on AT

Cartoon Network Arabic has already been showing a kiss scene on Young Justice which later on permitted the announcement of a ban on CN Arabic.
It seems that the "romantic kisses" episode continues on CN Arabic with the "permissable" one - the French kiss - as seen on an episode of Adventure Time that recently premiered on the channel:

They went beyond that: they got to see a scene of two creatures doing actions analogous with sexual mating, which is not allowed to air on Arabic channels:

Adventure Time has recently been hitting the fan with jokes that have a sexual meaning. Some episodes have been banned from airing on feeds controlled by OFCOM due to sexual references.
Has CN Arabic pulled the line? There is only one question left to ask: where do CN Arabic's dubs come from?
The answer is simple: Lebanon. The only country in the Arab world that gives predominance to Christianism (Catholicism and similars), with a significant 41%, though Islam is the most predominant with 54% on the wheel (59% if you count the 5% of Druze, which is quasi-Muslim).
The studio that dubs the shows is Image Production House, in Beirut, the Lebanese capital.
I don't know why did they pick Lebanon: is it because of the predominance of Christianity? I think that the studio has non-Muslims to see what's worth cutting or not, and I have heard about Muslims who worked at TV channels decades ago who could cut scenes off.
I could continue writing this post but I can't continue into a sort of religious conflict.

Your Shout: CN HQ in Spain

Is there a possibility to add a Spanish audio track on CN HQ? The feed should be available over there as a secondary channel in order to avoid conflicts with Boing ES.

I did not complete All About TV6

I did put some of the channel's early history in it, but I'll try and finish it tonight.

Clarence is coming to CN HQ next month

(info confirmed by the same TZ user who has seen the same episode of EEnE twice on the feed in September)
It's about time, Clarence will finally arrive to CN HQ in December, marking the first anniversary since I lost the feed.
However, CN PT came here first.

Tomorrow: All About TV6

I've already done some information about TV6 prior to it's creation, will add more tomorrow if I have time.

Finally, and after a long wait, Regular Show comes to CN Arabic

It seems that CN Arabic thought twice and will finally premiere it. Much of it will be cut, though.

Around the World - Episode 1

The first edition of the "new" Around the World, complete with the repetitive BSN theme (which isn't annoying), already used by my  Happy Doggie ad from Noteworthy News.

The new Around the World will premiere this afternoon

Today, Around the World will return after a hiatus which involved Vocaroo losing data in general. Only the last two episodes remain, but I think that the first few weren't downloaded.

I will keep my promises

I will talk about the future of Cartoonito and 91kt on a single post. Also this week: all about TV6, a Russian channel that ceased operating twelve years ago.

Two CNs?

This dream should be on the blog:
Today I got one of those dreams where one of those dreams you've been having for quite some time now come true and, when you wake up, you feel deceived about it.
I was at Minho Center. The MEO store was not at the entrance instead of opposite the Continente supermarket. The TV was tuned to Cartoon Network. To my surprise, it was tuned to CN HQ.
In the dream, they were airing a block. It was called The Morning CN (yes, it was The Morning CN) and it aired on CN HQ (in my dream). I don't know what was on. CN HQ was on channel 47, CN PT on channel 48. I've also seen RTP 2 there, FHFIF (in Portuguese, nonexistend dub) was on.
I was happy about that and was ready to share the information. I went home and wanted to see it but when I turned on, I was seeing different channels on the EPG. Channel 43 was CCTV 4 and in the middle was Cubavisión Internacional (but it was actually airing Rupavahini from Sri Lanka). I went to channel 47 (where CN PT is in real life) and instead of seeing CN PT, I was watching CN IN. I switched to channel 48 and another version of CN (CN SEA?) was on. That channel had a different look, still using the CMYK color scheme.

KBS World launched a new separate channel for Latin America in another language: does this remind you of something?

OK, so why is this post about KBS World since this blog is about an unrelated channel?
A few hours ago, I found out on the channel's website that they launched a new, LA-centric version of KBS World. They used to get a continental feed operating from the USA, and then, after a decision made by KBS, they proceeded to launch a new localized channel. Does this remind you of something?

This is KBS World Latino. A new channel which is the launch of CN PT all over again, but this time the change affected a wider area, more countries and more viewers than the amount of viewers CN HQ had before the switch. They are also seeking for expansion.
This "new" channel, from what I've seen, launched on November 1st. KBS themselves promoted it through KBS World's Youtube channel on the 29th of October. KBS World's website, on the other hand, only posted about the new channel on November 5th.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: this is the launch of CN PT all over again. Remember when CN HQ was replaced right after a promo for Innerspace on TCM ended and, at the next second, you've entered a cul-de-sac with no exit? Remember when it had absolutely no variety? KBS World Latino has more variety, its better managed as well but according to what I've seen, the same shows are repeated over and over again! And almost the entirety of the shows are dubbed, not subtitled! That's the first case of "English to native language" that I have seen since the CN HQ to PT switch nearly a full year ago.
This channel is KBS World but without news and documentaries. Just dramas and anything K-POP related. Where can they watch the weather forecast hosted by a woman on a virtual forest or the news ending with the presenters standing behind a live camera of Seoul at night? What about TV Tales of a Happy World, the animated series that is no longer in production, subtitles by I&T, which I'm not sure if the aforementioned feed carried it prior to the switch, but my feed carries it, about stories that bring hope to kids and adults, thus uplifting the minds of their audience? Like I said before, the Asian/European feed carries it, before Morning Forum. I've checked it out last year and when it ends, be sure to check out Morning Forum's theme: makes you wake up at half past eleven at night and get you ready for tomorrow in advance. That's what you do with disparate time differences.
But anyway, the channel is not in HD. The feed I get is in HD, so it's worth noticing that it will take a little while for Latin Americans to finally get their dramas in HD, dubbed or subtitled.
Personally, though, I think that some of the reactions were "now I just don't want to wait for the next time a national channel airs a K-drama with a Latin Spanish dubB" while a reaction was "makes me remind of Mexican telenovelas" jusr because of the dubs. In fact, those people migrated from local telenovelas to K-dramas as their "new way of life".
So anyway, that's all I have to say for now. And remember, KBS World: More than you imagine.

I've just sent this to CN SEA, will they answer me?

Hello. I'm from Portugal but I think that your channel (in the South East Asian region) needs room for improvement. Mostly linguistically: I've noticed that your Cha-Ching website is available in languages that CN SEA doesn't carry.
-Indonesian: before TV7 (Trans 7) was acquired by Trans Corp., the channel had a Kids WB block with CN and HB shows dubbed into Indonesian. Trans Corp. recently launched CNN Indonesia with Turner's help, plus the Cha-Ching music video is still in English. Do you plan on adding an Indonesian audio track in the near future, for the benefit of that country?
-Vietnamese. I know that a Vietnamese audio track is useless (except of course for local channels), but the Cha-Ching music video is subtitled into Vietnamese. Is there a possibility to launch Vietnamese subtitles or take risks by making it the first regional kids channel dubbed into the language?
-Khmer. This language is rejected by regional cable channels and TV providers opt to air them in English without any subtitles in any language. The Cha-Ching music video is dubbed into Khmer, which made me wonder: are you planning to make a CN block on a terrestrial channel in Cambodia, or add a Khmer audio track on the channel?
-Cantonese. I know it's not listed on the Cha-Ching website, the characters have the same meaning in either Mandarin or Cantonese but they're pronounced differently. CN SEA is based in Hong Kong and they primarily teach Cantonese in schools over there (and in Macao), so is there a possibility to launch a Cantonese audio track?
That's all I have to say for now.

Russia to ban CNN at the end of the year, CN in grave danger

Some of our readers (incluiding the owner of this blog) have read about a massive change in the Russian audiovisual spectrum.
First it was the ban of ads on cable TV, to which Life News responded with "I want my own terrestrial license", then the ban of ads on the primetime slots on terrestrial channels during shows (ads between shows are unaffected), then the limitations of foreign companies owning Russian terrestrial channels (now reduced to 20% max.) and now this: the Roskomnadzor will ban CNN starting from December 31st.
It is unknown if the ban will be temporary or permanent, as a Roskomnadzor official had hopes to see CNN again in the country and that the move is related to the conflict with Ukraine.
In a tone of irony, TV-6 Moscow was founded by Eduard Sagalajev and none other than Ted Turner. Turner wanted to buy a stake in NTV, but that deal never came into fruition.
TV-6 had a CN block in the late 90s.
What do you think of this? What future will Cartoon Network have in Russia?

Partial rebrand

Nartoon Catwork IV/Simon Petrikov has said on the Toonzone forums that CN HQ has switched to the semi-CHECK it. 3.0 look, however I'm a bit puzzled. Did they adopt their variation and replace it with CN CEE's variation after only one month?

Still on the theme of Tom and Jerry

TVM's website now illustrated Tom and Jerry with a picture of that new show from this year that we've been depried from watching because we no longer get Boomerang.
But I think that they air the classic shorts from decades ago. Unless someone from Mozambique confirms that.

I can watch Tom and Jerry shorts again

This time on Super RTL.
However, everything's in German.

Your Shout: African expansion

Can Turner break the DSTV monopoly in southern Africa and deliver their top channels (CN HQ and PT, BM HQ, TCM HQ and CNN) on other providers like Zap or the Startimes providers?

Your Shout: SKY

Sky logo.svg
Is there a possibility to launch SKY as a company and a TV provider in Portugal, thus making the market bilingual? Can the Portuguese versions of SKY Sports and SKY Movies compete linguistically with SPORT.TV and TVCine?

TAWOGB contest

CN HQ is currently holding a personalized TAWOGB contest. You have to make your own character and post it on their website,
The winning characters get their own plushes given to the winners of the contest.

GONIX

A Croatian schedules data website used to have CN HQ and CN RSEE schedules simultaneously, giving separate links for the two feeds.
Now the CN HQ schedules are just the same schedules as CN RSEE's.

New episodes this month

CN HQ has new RS and TAWOGB episodes this month, which I should be watching.
On the other side, there's a TAWOGB event which will be posted in a few minutes on this blog.

Now on BM HQ: A Man Called Flintstone

I should be watching this right now, but unfortunately it's impossible to watch right now.

On a tangentially related note

TAAG ads aired recently on Rádio Comercial (and possibly other national commercial radio stations). I think that this is an incentive on behalf of the Angolan airway company to boost their country's tourism.
The music used in their ads is the same as the Games section on various European CN sites from 2001 through 2006. On Portuguese television, it was used by SIC on a filler news story on the 50th anniversary of the Mini.

More Vocaroo issues

It seems that Vocaroo isn't working right now. It just went down without warning from their Twitter account.
EDIT: It works right now.

NOSgate

Like I said before, the TT GO! description on NOS decoders is in English, the episode titles are like that as well. This led to one question: is NOS still secretly broadcasting CN HQ, Boomerang and TCM on their headquarters?
Later on, I'll post about it on their Facebook page.

Your Shout: Clarence gay kiss

With the scene above causing such a storm in the USA and forced CN to remove the scene from future airings, will OFCOM regulations logically cut this scene as well?

Sign of the times

TT GO! will premiere after a ten-month delay on CN PT next Monday. As stated last night on the Toonzone forums, and owing to the fact that the Portuguese dub name will be the same, my decoder uses the English description for it, and no episode titles have been confirmed yet.
Plus, it's a 20-25 minute-long block on the schedule instead of two 10-minute ones. Is this a sign of the times? Will CN HQ return in time for Christmas? If it happens, then IT'S A MIRACLE! I CAN SEE IT NOW!
But not yet.

Movember movies on TCM

For those who don't know, Movember is an international movement where people grow mustaches for cancer prevention. TCM is celebrating it, probably for the first time, with a special block every night at 20:00. The first movie was The Prestige.
Unfortunately, and considering that Movember isn't popular with Portuguese solidarity makers, and because we don't have TCM anymore, we can't watch it.

Guess what

The Outlook problems have been solved. Unfortunately, I did not receive an answer from Turner.
I guess that we will never leave this cul-de sac... or will we?

Eleven months

Dear CN HQ,
it's been eleven months without your channel. And Boomerang. And TCM.
Is there any way to get you and your friends back?
---
OK, so my e-mails didn't work. We were supposed to get those channels back in September, but still no news of it.

Your Shout: TCM

Can I include TCM news on this blog on a regular basis? I've tested it with the Halloween highlights.

Over the Garden Wall postponed to next weekend

I did not have the time to watch it last week, owing to a few issues, instead I will watch it this weekend.

BM AU has rebranded

Today*, the Australian version of Boomerang has rebranded. The channel has unfortunately reducer their website to a minisite on CN AU's website.
There are currently no videos of the channel since the previous rebrand in 2012.
*It was still Sunday at the time of posting over here in Portugal

Your Shout: Alternatives to Vocaroo

Vocaroo issues

Unfortunately, on the past 28th of October, loads of data has been lost from Vocaroo. This means that all of the audio recording I have done so far for my blogs have been deleted without any warning.
However, I'm pretty sure that all the things I've done have been downloaded by someone who has seen my blog as an opportunity to save my recordings.
This means that Around the World has to restart from scratch and will be scripted as well.
Going off-topic, here's the first episode of Noteworthy News, my new audio comedy project, taking cues from The Day Today.
