end of transmission

Readers of this blog, well met. We have come to the end of this blog, but it's not over yet.

On the 29th of February, 2012 (a leap year), I started blogging. The first blog I made was the super-hideous PIPI HAHAMOGGIES - A.K.A. a.k.a. cartoon, a word salad title which resulted in one of the worst Portuguese blogs ever. Within a few months I had barely a thousand visitors.

On the 28th of March, 2012, I started "Cartoon Network HQ and Boomerang HQ stuff", in an attempt to revivalize Cartoon Network's popularity in Portugal. The blog, like the channels at the time, was in English, just like this blog. Like PIPI HAHAMOGGIES - A.K.A. a.k.a. cartoon, the blog was also a fiasco, but it was better in terms of views, as it had some occasional viewers from abroad.

There were problems, I was constantly drifting from the main topic of the blog with tons of off-topic posts (the "fillers"), transcriptions of chats (usually involving me as "Darwin" (the merman I created, not the TAWOGB character) just to disguise myself) and quickly I started to reach total stardom. I had six regular readers on average.

I got at least a couple comments from foreigners who stopped by. I had the "advent calendar" which stopped halfway through due to my very own personal objections. Also that "dude-bro" language (seriously, avoid using it now) didn't help. What didn't help either was when I entered Toonzone on December 30th (not posting anything for another two days, apart from just a PM) and I quickly let my blogging world aside and started to focus more on my new forum life.

On the 28th of March, 2013, the blog was done with.

Not everything was an "End of transmission". For some mad reason, I wanted to restart my blog (under the subtitle "THE RETURN!", if it wasn't that, it was something else) but in the intervening moments came the deadly switch of CN HQ, being eaten by a gigantic Spanish monster who wanted to shout "Kids, English is not a life skill! You are trapped in here forever!".

The lack of CN HQ in the Portuguese society resulted in mixed "fortunes" for their viewing audience. CN PT "surely" made CN a household brand again, but CN HQ had one problem: not being in Portuguese made it clear that 36 people were tuning in every single day of the week (especially on weekdays when I had full control of the television during the daytime hours) and the channel had little to no advertising.

Ákos Abonyi was the man who pressured me to enter the world of Facebook so that I could expand my work on "Zona dos cartoons" (originally "Zona dos desenhos animados"), the Portuguese version of his famous Rajzfilmövezet blog, part of the Cartoon Media Group chain. As time moved further, I stopped working on that blog because "lack of time".

Side projects like Cartoon World Portugal" also had marginal success. Dream World was constantly being updated because of the old and new dreams that I was eventually posting on that place, which was then abandoned.

But on the 6th of June, 2014, at 18:06:06 (06:06:06pm in the 12-hour format if you use it), I started writing my first post. And success was a key word. Instead of searching for the magical sounds of Ecuador, the blog had become a success, with promotion and linking to my posts on Toonzone.

And viewing "ratings" began to increase faster than the old blog.

It became an instant success.

The "CNHQgate", based on an e-mail I've received, was prophetic (the number of views increased to 1000 by the end of the week in which it was posted), being a sign that I was ready for success.

And "success" was the key word for the blog.

A failed Shocktober season (in 2014) did not work, but conflicts with school work didn't allow the continuation. And no advent calendar was made, because the one I made was full of off-topic images.

RegularTaxi was also a thing. This was the first time I was actually writing for anything else other than Blogger or Facebook (apart from that experiment called "Fãs do Cartoon Network" which never really became a leadership experience). This blog in question was more of a true leadership experience, because I was getting more and more likes as time began to move. Then hosting problems closed the site down twice.

But now that RegularTaxi is back, especially with the forums, that went down the pound with it.

Now, the reason why I made this post was to finally announce that the rebrand is here.

If you believed that this blog was over, it actually isn't.

Actually the blog's rebrand will finally come next week.

After a few years on Blogger, it's time to make the switch to Wordpress, on the servers of RegularTaxi.

The reason why: with Google changing their terms and services thanks to copyrighted content, this address will be obsolete.

All the content will be transferred to a completely new domain: www.cnbmbnhq.ml, and this post will be included. Also the long-overdue rebrand will finally happen.

I'd like to thank literally everyone who commented, looked and linked to this blog, incluidng Cartoon Brew when they talked about those Chinese CN show rip-offs. And also the people (mostly Arabs) who dispensed their likes on the #SaveCNHQ Facebook page, which at the time of writing is one like ahead of 100.

And with that, we now say "goodbye" to Blogspot and "hello" to the new blog, whose rebrand is coming next week.

Good night, and goodbye.

An important announcement

Google has changed their terms and conditions regarding Blogspot. This blog is probably in grave danger.

I have included copyrighted content on my blog. Seriously. This is a BAD INFLUENCE and the blog may end sooner or later.

Months ago, this blog's Facebook page was under fire because it had a CN logo and Turner took it down.

Now, with all those CN logos scattered across the place, what should I do?

I could at least export the content and will probably move to RegularTaxi's hosting servers. Any ideas? Please comment and see what I can do.

Urban legend

CN PT is a terrorist channel. Every hour, they subliminally say "ALLAHU AKBAAAAAAAR!" to their viewers.

Unlike CN Arabic, CN PT is extremist.

Another meaning of "CN HQ"

Aside from being the legendary feed, Canadian National Railways has headquarters in Montréal.

I am a merman.

I have saved many people one "YES" at a time.

Timeloop

Three CN feeds started broadcasting on October 1st.

CN USA - 1992
CN RSEE - 2009
CN PT - 2013

The one thing is - if you launch a CN feed on October 1st, it will end up having a terrible schedule.

Shocktober starts now

Martyn Lewis and the #SaveCNHQ crisis

666 - Pierre Branco's symbol, meaning "the end of the golden age", also perceived as "123" (December 3) or "312" (3 December).

Invaders, 9:55
"Leave the remnants of the channel, nicknamed "CN HQ" by a Portuguese viewer, to the devils, make Diogo Corral rich and spread awful dubs amongs the eyes and ears of Portugal along with bad channel management, demoting the learning of the English language."

All communications of the CN PT team start and end with the Spanish anthem, whereas the opposite groups who want it and more content in English have communications starting and ending with the British anthem. The opposition has once hijacked the BBC, nearly repeating the moment where Diana died.

"This is BBC Television from London. Normal programming has been suspended, and we now join Martyn Lewis in the news studio."
"This is BBC Television from London. Cartoon Network in Portugal is now in Portuguese. Millions of children are in famine due to the loss of a channel."

"Millions of children in Portugal are remaining indoors and will have the worst Christmas of their lives. "CN HQ", as a local viewer called it, led viewers in strict diseases. Portugal is now the worst country to speak the English language. The Spanish invaders have also shut down the Portuguese Broadcasting Corporation."

"I miss Regular Show and Last of the Summer Sustenance Pills. I am sick and have no choice." - me talking to a BBC microphone

PBC Television was transmitting Regular Show in the show's original form - PBC Television wasn't imposed to edits. According to Martyn Lewis, "even the Braga Broadcasting System shut down."

"Portugal, a country which once had twenty-four languages, has just been reduced to one. What used to be a multicultural place eventually turned to a single-cultural disaster. Richard Atkins, BBC News, London."

"MARTYN LEWIS: This just in, a certain "Matthew Harris" is helping the Braga Broadcasting System to recover itself from the loss of multiculturalism in Portugal. The first few episodes of the new series of The Hard Sell were sent to the broadcaster via Cornwall and, as expected, will air after the watershed."

Insider info from Martyn Lewis, who returned to the news with the CN HQ crisis nearly two years ago. He works at the BBC and the BBS just for the sake of it.

"This is BBC Television from London. Our scheduled programming has been cancelled to show further developments on the #SaveCNHQ crisis."

In two days from now

Wednesday will mark 666 days since The Event.

CN HQ was replaced by an endless showing of The Quiz Broadcast.

But it's time to stop.

CN PT (The Quiz Broadcast) was earning ratings and money every day.

But this needs to stop.

Turner vs. Ofcom vs. Roskomnadzor vs. the LGBT community

BlooMac on Toonzone said that, as a birthday surprise, they skipped "Jeff Wins".

Clarence has wasted his potential.

Nowadays if you want to look for hidden LGBT messages, it will cause uproar in the native country of the show and European feeds will eventually ban it.

Turner decided to skip the episode, doing a request both did not want or probably wanted. As if the shows had hidden sexual messages.

A sign of the times?

Sunday's ratings:

Yesterday's ratings:

CN PT is nowhere to be seen.
Within a few days, CN PT returned to initial positions.
A sign of the times.

EDIT: Yesterday's ratings:

My hopes turned down.

The strangest of dreams

I went out with artnerfy to do something related with the Clarence episode "Goldfish Follies". Not sure what it was, exactly.

Then I fell down on what I thought was a shortcut, which actually led to a slide to the pool.

Then, "It's 5 o'clock. I'm going to watch Clarence with artnerfy". Then, in an ironic twist, "Shame that there are no CN HQ streams on the internet".

Then someone gave me an illegal link to watch it, which I refused.

That above was just the written version of the 90s Jeux Sans Frontières theme. An old European game show that was cancelled in 1999, featuring teams from different European countries.

But still, 22 years ago today, Cartoon Network began appearing to all of Europe via cable and satellite.

It was a time of democracy all across European screens. Cable and satellite helped expand this revolution.

In Portugal, demand for the English language grew.

CN HQ was here to stay.

Then came CN PT.

The invaders must leave soon.

CN HQ, though still alive, is fondly remembered.

CN HQ is love. CN HQ is life.

22 years is too much, yet still acceptable.

Every night

If you watched CN HQ constantly, you would say that before going to bed:

CN HQ is love

CN HQ is life

This is my channel

This is my lifestyle

This is all that I can see

CN HQ is love

CN HQ is life

But then one day

The channel loses viewers

And left me without choice

CN HQ is love

CN HQ is life

More on the rebrand

As you may have noticed, the text is now in a shade of purple. (fits in because it's based on the CN color scheme)

The biggest challenge yet is the rebrand. Based on a meme which started a mere eleven months before the switch, I've decided to temporarily rebrand the blog as "CN HQ is love, CN HQ is life".

I've stayed without the channel for nearly two years. I seem to be entering a timeloop and now that Phineas and Ferb is over, nothing worth watching is on.

And with the exciting news on CN HQ's hypothetical return (which may fall into oversight), the rebrand will be finalized within October.

Missing Bumper Watch 2015

Thirteen months ago, I made a post about missing bumpers. Eventually one of those bumpers was found. One year on, it's time to revisit the post because let's see the developments of a quest as huge as this one.

1: Cartoon Network Cinema bumper, ca. 2002.
Technically you're looking at the Eastern European version of it, but, in case you're a bit too bored, click on the image. In case you can't, the lettering above read "CINEMA" and Cow was apparently holding an actual torch.
2: Kaleidoscope-themed bumper, featuring various HB stars. Used around late 2004 or so. At the end, we see the CN logo, but with two of the letters swapped (CAROTON NETWORK). Later, it changes to the correct text (CARTOON NETWORK). Used on Boomerang as late as 2011, just by editing the end. Here's a still from it, taken from a 2004 CN Scandinavia promo video:
3: Tom and Jerry-themed bumper, also set to classical music. I only remember seeing it on Boomerang, and the look was reminiscent of the 2002 "Blocks" look. NO SCREENSHOT
4: Promo for the 2004 Christmas marathon called "Blocks Around the Clocks". It had C's rotating in squares, also reminiscent of the look CN was using at the time. The background was white. NO SCREENSHOT
5: Promo for the 2005 Christmas block. Don't remember the name, but it had a song by The White Stripes (Hardest Button to Button, where we see the band multiplying in streets). The promo looked a bit like that music video, and it featured scenes from a show with a character appearing four times, along with the four-note repetitive tune played by a guitar riff. NO SCREENSHOT, MUSIC VIDEO, IF YOU WANT TO GET AN IDEA OF HOW IT WAS:
6: Bumpers and promos for Cartoon Carnival, hosted by a Bloo impersonator. Used in the fall of 2006. FostersFriend doesn't have those bumpers...
7: Footage from VBirds: Perfect. Thanks to a Danish YouTube user called BratzSamuel2005, he posted a promo for what seemed to be VBirds: Perfect, as we can see two Dance Dance Revolution-esque stages and what appears to be the character selector. No, it wasn't the result of a fever dream, the only time I did watch it was when I was sick. The promo doesn't specify if it was VBirds: Perfect yet the uploader said that CN Scandinavia aired it twice a day, in minute-long episodes. I also got credited in the Lost Media Wiki, and I'm here to confirm it.
8: HiHi Puffy AmiYumi promo from late 2005. It was a generic promo and it was part of a series called CN Muzik. Unfortunately, it was the only one in the series and was a music video with the music being the HHPAM theme song. The music video had a "CN MUZIK" bug. The following image is partly accurate:
9: This bumper was eventually found, part of a video dated 2002. 2002! I was 4 back then and this was when CN HQ, now fully-independent, was still using the European Powerhouse era! 51 seconds in:
10: Footage from Toon FM. I can only find a British promo for it. It was set in Tokyo and was hosted by Brak (according to the promo) and Johnny Bravo. I don't remember more, but I thought that it wasn't the European JBVO (without the requests part and set in Tokyo). Does anyone have footage of the block itself? Here's a promo:

Also, there was a limited local radio station of the same name, which I initially thought that it only played CN-related music but actually got around airing stuff from artists like Vengaboys. The station aired for a brief period of time in 1999 in London and Manchester. If anyone from those areas of the UK is looking at my blog, please, I beg you: send-me MP3 files of recordings of this ill-fated station at randomme98@outlook.com.
11: Footage from Viva Las Bravo 2005. I liked the bumpers used at the start of breaks. As the Lost Media Wiki points out: "Similarly, a spin-off of the spin-off itself would be "Viva Las Bravo", aired as a summer programming block in certain European variants of Cartoon Network in 2005 and 2006. Every day Johnny would announce three cartoons for voting through either email or CartoonNetworkHQ.net to then be shown the next day for two hours, while he would also constantly appear in commercial breaks either cracking jokes or answering hilarious emails and phone calls. Very little of this block has resurfaced either besides an incomplete promo."
By the way, I only recall seeing bumpers used at the start and the end of breaks, which looked like a puppet theater, with the main difference being the fact that they were just character photos glued to a stick.
12: Footage from Viva Las Bravo 2006. Only one promo is known to exist on the Internet, and is incomplete:
13: Cartoon Network website promo from 2002-ish. It featured stills from the first European design and the Play section from the Brazilian website!
14: Footage from Pick Your Fridays, but in high quality. CartoonNetworkRulzz has some low quality clips and more can be found on the slow VBOX7.
15: Promos for the various incarnations of Cartoon 60. Several promos already exist in other languages.
Does anybody remember the first Powerpuff 60 logo? It consisted of the words POWERPUFF 60 in the Impact font and there was a yellow thing behind it. I might get the colors wrong. I may have found that bumper but still, I must check harder.
16: Series of promos for CN shows. The only one I can find is the one for Robotboy, but I assume that there were HiHi Puffy AmiYumi and Camp Lazlo versions of it. To see the Robotboy bumper on YouTube (because VBOX7 is very slow outside of Bulgaria), search for "Robotboy bumper OldMcBarney". Here's how it looked like:

17: CN bumper with footage from the Dexter's Laboratory episode "Photo Finish", that had the CN logo at the end, with the T being replaced by a 7 (a reference to the car from the same episode whose license plate read "7IN7").
18: Any descriptions on the Mojo Network bumpers from CN CEE in October 2002? Here's my take on the logo using Paint:
19: Any descriptions or footage on the CN Toon Tour bumpers from 2002? It was hosted by the Mayor and Ms. Bellum on a bus (according to footage of it that used to be on the internet six years ago, sadly it was in Polish). The bug on the bottom-left consisted of the letters "TT" inside a badge. NO SCREENSHOT
20: Full promo for CartoonNetworkHQ.net, aired in the spring of 2006. Only the first and last seconds of it are known to exist on the internet. Full versions of it exist recorded off CN CEE, yet featured icons depicting characters of CN shows that CN HQ didn't air at the time.
21: I've never seen this promo, any ideas on what was it about? Pick Your Fridays again?
22: Footage from Sock TV, 2009-2011. Did it have any bumpers? My mind could be playing tricks, it probably had. You can find 2011 episodes on YouTube.
23: 2005 schedule promo featuring King Arthur's Disasters, Ed, Edd n Eddy and (probably) Dexter's Laboratory. It was used to promote those shows as part of the early afternoon schedule. The promo was unbranded.
24: 2006 afternoon schedule promo, featuring the "clothes hanging on a wire" theme.
25: Any Ben 10-related footage from the original show, incluiding the premiere promo for it.
26: Speaking of premiere promos, any premiere promos for any CN show, on any European feed.
27: Toon Awards. CN HQ had that in 2005 (at least), but I don't remember it. Here's a picture that features the logo:

28: Something similar from 2007 that had clouds à la Toon Awards. According to Belgian user Red Arrow :D from the Toonzone forums, the winner was Ed, Edd n Eddy and they aired the show all day.

We will cover this Africa-centric channel. Perfect for Turner to start putting CN HQ back on the European market and kick CN RSEE's arse for good.

An important announcement

Hello to all my readers. Well met.

You know, a lot of you have been asking questions like "what about the rebrand"? The lack of Boing HQ information and me not having CN HQ for nearly a couple of years now are two of the factors that made the rebrand "long overdue".

But now, after months and months on end of televised unrest, we have signs of the times.

These signs were discovered by artnerfy this afternoon. Some of the games on the site are untranslated (OK, I already knew about that) but there are also untranslated forms:
"Remind your parents they should activate it through the link they have received in the registered mailbox. If you have not received the message, ask them to check the spam folder!"

This was found on the source code, the one from the CN PT website. Said source code has links to the CN HQ website (and features codes from it), which can only mean one thing: it's coming back.

Also, the CN HQ source code is in Spanish and Portuguese (because this design was adapted from a CN LA design):
Depending on the relevance, this appears to be debatable, but there's more:

An "auth.cartoonnetworkeurope.com" page, which only developers can access, and if you go to cartoonnetworkeurope.com, clicking on PORTUGAL still gives you the CN PT site, but the source still says CN HQ. For some time (and artnerfy is right), the source said "PT", but now there appears to be a change of mentality.

So what do these discoveries mean? CN HQ will probably come back at some stage! I can't wait!
In other words, given my analogies, the mermen are coming!

An analogy with the last episode of Flapjack

The mermen represent CN HQ.
Flapjack and K'nuckles both represent CN PT.
CN PT disturbs the lifestyle of the mermen, which all represent longtime CN HQ watchers, then CN PT is infected by technical mistakes every day, as if it was the Fish Flu.
So it's kind of nice to see an episode of Flapjack giving, in 2015, an analogy on the current state of CN PT.
And Flapjack was never dubbed over here, which means that there's an extra meaning: it also represents a show that will never air unless a loophole is found.
Kind of like they predicted something.

Whatever, the mermen will win if CN HQ returns.

A dream from artnerfy on CN HQ

It happened to him today, talked to him via Facebook and allowed to post it here.

Basically he was watching TV, then NOS channel 45 was reactivated. It was going to be the new home of CN HQ which was going to return. CN HQ was, according to the dream, going to be relaunched in three days.

The infocard was made by NOS, saying that "o inglês no Cartoon Network está a voltar", then on channel 47 (CN PT), they were having faults upon faults upon faults while airing the Ed, Edd n Eddy episode "The Ed-Touchables", and the show was subtitled into Portuguese.

Basically, that was it.

Sacking

I have already talked about sacking when Boomerang CEE had audio track issues, but now they're trying to be 4Kids or AB (who edited animes for the French market and made their earworm theme songs).
Now CN PT is full of technical problems and I have to command these mermen to sack the few Portuguese employees.

Current Boing HQ schedule

DISCLAIMER: Montage Cable TV has removed the Boing HQ schedules for weeks on end, which resulted in another long delay of this blog rebrand. I know that the Algerian bloke who runs NTSFR Fansub has already put the link to my blog featuring his self-made logo for my blog, but the delays have to do with the lack of fruitful information about the new channel on the internet. Without further ado, here's the schedule, which I put as "current" because I'm pretty sure that the schedule was different last month, yet there was no information.

WEEKDAYS:
05:00 - Camp Lazlo
05:45 - Dexter's Laboratory

02:00 - Johnny Bravo
02:45 - The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
03:30 - Courage the Cowardly Dog
04:15 - Codename: Kids Next Door

Weekend schedule to follow.

Nice to see that they've added a couple of shows but it still suffers from the deadly "double" and "quadruple" slot syndrome.

The CN PT magazine has hit new lows

The owner of RegularCapital.com sent it privately to me this morning and I've decided to share it with the general public. This was found on 9GAG.

Apparently CN PT (which I hate, just look at the archived posts, please don't give me another one opf those rants) has had a magazine since last May.

Just like competing channel Canal Panda, the magazine offers toys.

And what a strange toy it is. It's not merchandise linked to any show, not even Johnny Test. See for yourself...
First of all, I'd like to say that the following image is NSFW, and, in order to watch NSFW images on 9GAG, you just have to log in. Nowadays I just don't give attention to 9GAG, it helped me shape in 2012 and back then, you simply had to click on the image to look at an NSFW image. Now it's all about logging in.

Ladies and gentlemen: this is a fail.

Proceed if you dare.

AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! What is that? It's a phallic penile shark squirt gun!

What happened to the makers of this toy when they gave it the green light? CANNOT BE UNSEEN!

EDIT: It is infact the latest issue and it squirts, so we're probably seeing some metaphor.

Hint: read Cymuned's Cym Rag.

EDIT +1: I've seen it at my local Continente supermarket at Minho Center and it really is a shark, but it still looks phallic.

WHY, INDIA?!

You already know that India has the worst Cartoon Network in existence.

They gave them GAOBAM but gave it an intro to match the Indian lifestyle.

But there's a show which does that for the worst.

Regular Show, which has the worst Portuguese dub of all-time, now has the worst Hindi theme song of all-time.

Seriously, just play it. You won't believe until you hear it.

I'd like to thank szjdfgs for finding this at desitvforum.net - also there's no logo, there are no title cards and it's capable of making it a ringtone.

Stop. Seriously, stop. I am now feeling like the time I looked at that Mexican fancomic where they go to Atlantis from Mexico and now I feel sorry for all those cheap mockmakers in existence because they just feel like it.

Uganda's Top Ten Music

Wonder years.

My CN PT logo

In the fall of 2012, I sketched up a logo for CN PT, based on the logo of CN Arabic. Eventually the following year, some bored bloke with a role-play TV station decided to make the logo, and eventually the now-defunct Notícias TV used it for their ratings page. But now, here's my CN PT logo, just to let you know that I'm the creator of the concept (which was created by CN Arabic years before) and to see if it actually was worth it.

Proof that Uganda is Africa's Hollywood

Cow and Chicken were right.

Shocking.

Montage Cable TV has removed schedules from Boing Africa.

This is very shocking. Still no rebrand.

What shall I do to save CN HQ?

The RS movie is coming.

Taking this analogy, I must survive a Timenado (Sharknado, anyone?) and a volleyball coach and try and restore CN HQ to Portugal.

I know this won't happen in real life, but this needs to happen.

How am I right now?

Look, I haven't updated this in a while, but here's something shocking: I went to my aunt's house and I took a couple of photos with my cellphone on low battery. I did take them just in time.

MEO Kids once again, and what do we have?

In between an ad for Disney Movies on Demand and some event (possibly something else), I examined this and I've seen unusual suspects.

We have the Eds! Very strange indeed because EEnE was never dubbed into EU-PT and we'll never see again unless a loophole is made.

Also we have Frylock from ATHF, an [adult swim] show. It never aired over here and kids will be fooled by the sinister-looking character.

MEO is uncautious, indeed.

Another question on The Anytown Show

How can Alex Jones put "Steve Viksten"? He died last year. Maybe he has extra-sensorial powers?

RegularTaxi forums

OK now, let me say something - RegularTaxi now has forums. There were some temporary forums without any single post whatsoever back in February before the site went on to have a hosting crisis and rise like a phoenix three months later and guess what: now it has a proper forum.

Four users are there at the moment: RandomMe (that's me), artnerfy, zwkl and Dodo(koce?).

The forum is about animation in general, television, technology and other forms of entertainment.~

Check it out here.

Toonzone has rebranded

After a 24-hour maintenance, the Toonzone forums have finally rebranded, now matching the site's new look.

And what a mess it is.

For a start, all our accounts had doubled the amount of PMs and posts, also the user title changed back to my previous one.

You can't see the posts your TZ friends have wrote on your profile.

The smileys are awful.

You can now rate posts based on how you feel.

The forums now look narrower (currently due to MMORPG advertising).

The number of posts per page is now 20 instead of 10 (it was ten posts per page for eleven months now, they changed back).

The new layout now works well on mobile devices.

I've heard that posts can no longer support more than 600 characters.

The chat box has been removed after about fifteen months.

This is giving me headaches.

On the other hand, I am feeling insanely optimistic on the return of RegularTaxi.

The Anytown Show - FAIL COUNTER

Blog rebrand: next week

Tomorrow (at the time of writing, it's already Sunday) I'll have my Economy exam, I just want to be confident. In the afternoon, I will have the possibility to finally do the much-anticipated blog rebrand.

The Real Thomas again

Today, I found out that the RS episode The Real Thomas (which, in the European version, had to replace all references to Russia in favor of a made-up country unrelated to Russia) was considered "pro-American propaganda" by Russia Today.
Not sure how, but it's a play on the political tension between the USA and Russia.
But what if the concept was completely different?
What if the European version dealt with Tajikistan instead of Russia?
Because Tajikistan is far more critical than Russia, that could be a possibility.
They could even switch the Russian anthem with the Tajik one. We would have:
Titles turn to accurate Tajik (Нишон додани мунтазам - дар Томас воқеӣ - як интерн махсус)
All instances of Russia become Tajikistan
All instances of Russian become Tajik
Writing on the sprinkler: "ДИҚҚАТ!"
The Russian characters have Tajik names
The Tajik anthem plays. As soon as the tape starts, "Диёри арҷманди мо"
Operation Park Lift = "Амалиёт Парк бардоред"
All instances of CCCP become ТОҶИКИСТОН
The Soviet poster with a star becomes a poster of Emomali Rahmon
KGB = Tajik Army
Russian symbols = Tajik symbols
"We are heading to Mother Russia" = "We are heading to glorious Tajikistan"
"Tajik park technology is decades behind the rest of the world!"
Технологияи боғи тоҷик даҳсолаҳои пушти боқимондаи ҷаҳон аст!
"Хайр, Rahmon, you'll always be Thomas to us!"
Пас, чӣ гуна фикри шумо чист?

How Ramadan Riddles works

I'd like to wish a happy Ramadan (Ramadan Kareem!) to all my Muslim followers. If you live in the Arab World, they have this thing called Ramadan Riddles every year on CN Arabic.

If you watch CN Arabic on a regular basis, this is what you do:
1 - Watch the block on CN Arabic then pay attention to a show in question
2 - Go to the microsite on CN Arabic's website and answer a question about the episode
3 - If you get the right answer, you can play a minigame in under 30 seconds (like a puzzle)
4 - Enter your personal information and a ranking table appears
Then repeat those four steps over and over again until Ramadan ends in a little over four weeks. And after that, it's Eid Mubarak.

Hiba and Ryan's kitchen

Judging by this, Hiba is the one on the right and Ryan is the one on the left. And Ryan is a blatant rip-off of Steven Universe.
But there is another rip-off, one that is dated 2011 - one from Magic eye Magic rabbit - Yu Gianlin.

(left to right - Yu Gianlin (Steven Universe rippff), Xianliang, Meili, Bowen)

dorkyville

Yet another one of the 3458905 aliases that Alex Jones has on Toonzone. Don't worry, as Light Lucario will ban him soon.
Also, Ima Goodlady is a news presenter. What if Sedusa was a news presenter with a TTS voice?

Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed about the schedule, not all my favorite shows are there, plus with The Powerpuff Girls outside of CN HQ, why didn't they opt to air it? Plus the channel is over-dependent on double slots.

I'm not a Powerpuff purist

People are now complaining about the new PPG VAs and design. I'm OK with them, because I'm not one of those purists who want the old voices back. Also, switchin to pre-teens and young adults is a step in the right direction.

New Ben 10 ahead

Trust me, according to this picture, it will be the TT GO! of Ben 10.

It will come to Europe in 2016 and the USA in 2017, which is odd.

Spaced Out - a general overview

I've found it on the old Turner Info website. Valious information about the show appears on this post. And by "valious", I mean that we have information on the show that little to no English footage of it exists.
---
Intergalactic adventures with the Martins - a normal family sent to live in an experimental space station.
Cartoon Network Gets SPACED OUT
Life is really starting to look up for George Martin and his family. He’s managed to land himself a dream job that catapults him from what up until now has been a rather sad life experience, to one that is pretty much, out of this world. You see, George has been offered the position of Station Manager aboard a Secret Orbital Space Station.
But there is one small problem. His new employers have been more than a little astro-economical with the truth. In fact, they are actually an extremely corrupt and evil corporation called ‘Krach Industries’ who are intending to use the gullible but lovable George and his family as guinea pigs. The Martins are destined to become unwitting participants in a human experiment to discover whether life can be sustained on the Krach Space Station.
However, resolute in his success, George manages to persuade his family to de-camp for a new life among the stars. His wife, Monica stands by him and day-dreams about the day she’ll meet intelligent aliens. His young son Benjamin, is excited by the prospect of a great adventure, whilst Betty, his terminally sarcastic, angst ridden, teenage daughter, can’t think of one good reason why there could be anything positive about the move.
The Martins are not alone and share the station with a few bizarre characters; Boris the Russian cosmonaut, Guy, the one-man service industry (waiter, doctor, gardener…) and Ms Schuman the snide spinster schoolteacher and her equally un-pleasant son, Bobby.
Add these characters to a highly un-stable environment of aliens, androids, and cosmic phenomena and the stage is set for some seriously outlandish plots.
Spaced Out is a 26 x half hours family show, and is the result of a co-production between Alphanim, Tooncan, Canal + and Cartoon Network, Europe.
THE CHARACTERS
GEORGE MARTIN (The "hero")
An optimist, a generally happy person, George is a bit of a boy scout. He thinks of himself as warm, understanding and attentive. For him, there is no such thing as a problem, there are only solutions.
George is rather self-satisfied and appreciates his new life to the hilt. His perpetual optimism however can become rather annoying.
As with all optimist, George is prone to bouts of melancholy but always gets up, brushes himself down and focuses the bright side of even the most negative situations.
For George, the glass is always half full… even when it’s empty !
From his control tower, George is all-powerful. He manages day/night cycles, climatic changes, growth of artificial vegetables, atmospheric density, nitrogen levels and gravity. He also carry’s out all the Station maintenance. It's him that keeps the whole thing ticking over. He firmly believes Krach-Ind.'s story that new paying inhabitants could arrive at any moment.
Yes, in a certain sense, George is God - A sweet if rather dim God who has only one desire, to be happy!
On Extraterrestrials - A rationalist, the voice of Krach, George believes we are alone in the universe. He is eternally sceptical and it is impossible to convince him otherwise. He will go so far as to deny the evidence, with no ill intent. He always has a scientific explanation.
MONICA MARTIN (George’s wife)
Monica is active, responsible and on a spiritual quest in search of the meaning to life. An optimistic, open-minded New Ager, she hopes contact will be made with extraterrestrials and dreams of a peaceful human-alien brotherhood.
Monica is a kitchen sink psychologist. Whenever her daughter Betty manifests some desire, even if it is suicidal, Monica is happy: at least Betty wants to do something. She will even urge Betty to take things further. Monica listens to what people have to say, but over-analyses everything, which can make her fairly annoying on occasion.
On Extraterrestrials - Monica lives in eternal expectation of first contact with extraterrestrials. She is firmly convinced it will happen one day, and that it will be a grandiose, happy, quasi-religious event. This is the source of much discord between her and George.
BETTY MARTIN (The elder daughter)
Betty is sluggish, depressive, dark and incredibly neurotic. You just need to take a look at her. Makes you wonder if she's been like this since birth. She’s your typical teenager with attitude.
Being on this dratted station is about the worst thing that could have happened to her.
Whether she is wildly happy or deeply depressed, you can barely tell the difference.
Her main characteristic is her speech, a comic hybrid between Clockwork Orange and teenage slang. Her parents barely understand this hybrid language she speaks. Only her young brother Benjamin understands her and is landed with the task of keeping the lines of communication open between his sister and parents.
On Extraterrestrials - Why not: you never know! There's no reason to believe there aren't other races leading boring lives just like us, elsewhere in the universe.
BENJAMIN MARTIN (George’s Son)
Benjamin is calm, serene and happy to be on the station. It's an unbelievable experience. He is curious, imaginative if a bit absent minded. He is an open, sweet child who listens to others.
In fact, it's not hard to imagine that on Earth, he was often teased because of his physique. Out there in space, there is nobody to make fun of him. He can thus grow and uncover his real self.
Full of imagination and curious, forever exploring, crazy about Fenimore Cooper, Jules Vernes and Isaac Aasimov, with Benjamin, adventure is around every street corner! This is the dream life.
On Extraterrestrials - Of course aliens exist. They’re ugly, slobbering and mean, just like the ones in the books he reads.
GRAN (George's mother. Widow)
She is a permanent fixture of the Station. She lives in a house right next to her son.
She hadn't wanted to let George go off without her. She gets so worried about him because she loves him so. He's her little Georgie Porgie!
Gran is nuts about jogging, stretch aerobics step classes and other tortures. It's her obsession.
That Gran is egotistical is an understatement. She is the only person who counts in her life, and George too of course. Each of her sentences contains at least two "I"s, three "me"s and four myself"s.
As for everything else, she couldn't care less. Grandchildren??! She barely remembers their name. In any case, she hates talking about them because it makes her older.
Gran doesn't want to grow older, so she has become hyperactive.
George finds his mother perfect, but then love is blind. He doesn't understand and gets upset when his family points out her failings.
On Extraterrestrials - Thinks exactly as her son does.
MISS SCHUMAN (The school mistress)
Military styled, curt mannered, rigorous, morally uptight, old-fashioned, reactionary and peremptory. She's the entire Opus-Dei rolled into one.
Miss Schuman is the Station gossip. Occasionally a fink, jealous, mean and indiscreet, she loves other people's problems. Just goes to show you what happens when you have no principles!
According to Miss Schuman her son Bobby is the living proof of the benefits of a strict upbringing. She's right in that when Bobby is with his mother, he is a true little angel but the moment her back is turned, he becomes a total nightmare.
Oblivious to the truth, Miss Schuman tries to find the cream of fathers for her son and the man of her dreams.
On Extraterrestrials - Fervently hoping for a close encounter with a hunky, well-endowed young man.
BOBBY SCHUMAN (Miss Schuman's son)
An angel in the presence of his mother. Elsewhere, he's a nightmare.
When he speaks to his mother, he whispers, you can barely hear him. He doesn't want to disturb. Without his mother around, he screams, swears, farts, burps and picks his nose. You can't get much worse.
Even with his double life, he's impossible to catch out because of his wit and intelligence.
With George, he plays at being the perfect little gentleman. In fact, it's the same with all the adults, only Betty and Benjamin know what he is truly capable of.
It's revolting to see Bobby in action because the adults believe him to be perfect. He's a real boot-licker, he carries grocery bags, runs errands, and even says "Hello" and "Thank you."
On Extraterrestrials - Doesn’t know.
BORIS MAKALOV (Station convoy person)
Thanks to his inter-planetary shuttle, Boris ensures the link between the Station and Earth and is the only one to ever leave the Station.
When he arrived accidentally on the Station, Boris was a wreck of a man, at the end of his rope after spending almost ten years in artificial hibernation for a trip to Mars.
He wakes up just moments before landing in the Martin universe and is a bit out of touch. The USSR had become Russia and no one wants to repatriate him. He's just another sacrifice.
A veteran of the Afghan War, Boris has a keen understanding of survival science, hand to hand combat, arms and a high tolerance for pain. Boris is also a bit on the paranoiac side and sees KGB agents everywhere.
Boris is pretty darn smart. His IQ is twice that of George's but he is very modest. He always lets George be the big brother. The Martin family represents the domestic idyll that he longs for.
On Extraterrestrials - Lives in abject fear of aliens.
GUY (The Stations Jack-of-all-trades)
He is in turn movie usher, manager of the bowling alley, police chief, street sweeper, postman….
No one knows whether Guy is a robot or if he's a human being and no one really cares.
Guy is all purpose, he changes costumes at lightning speed. He is everywhere at the same time which doesn't seem to faze the Martins one bit.
On Extraterrestrials - Not programmed to respond in that area. Next question?
KRACH INDUSTRIES
Krach Industries is a vast industrial consortium active in such diverse sectors as chemicals, clothing, food, home appliances, real estate and cosmetics. Anything one can buy on Earth can be manufactured by Krach.
For every product manufactured and sold, new ones are being researched and developed. Since these new products aren’t always up to scratch, Krach needs a representative sample of testers: the Martins!
There is a considerable advantage to using the Martins as testers: if there’s a problem, they aren’t about to complain or sound the alarm to anyone at all. Moreover, the Krach R & D Division houses a super-secret section: the space colonization initiative. Krach, you see, intends to solve the housing crisis by paving outer space with concrete.
All this means that the Orbiting Station is shrouded in the utmost secrecy: no one on Earth knows that it exists. The Martins know only what Krach tells them, eat only what Krach feeds them and see only what Krach wants them to see. The Martins are blissfully unaware of all this.
Cynicism, inhumanity and sales logic are Krach-Ind.'s ruling words.
Krach-Ind. Is based in an ultra-modern building peopled with high level robot-managers dressed in identical suits. There are no angry bosses at Krach-Ind., there are only sales people, interchangeable and dehumanised who can appear at any moment on the Station to handle any problems that arise. They are always warmly welcomed by George. They are after all his benefactors.
The only thing that obsesses Krach, is their rate on the stock market.
THE STATION, THE DOME, THE KRACH-DOME
The Station is a character unto itself.
The Station is protected by a magnetic dome that allows the inhabitants to breathe and protects them from random outer-space rays. Inside are what look like real houses, you'd almost believe that it was inhabitable but when you actually live there, you quickly notice that tons of things go wrong and that the equipment is far from perfect. For instance the showerhead sometimes drips dry ice or even trash.
A tangled net of galleries, tunnels, entrances and passages can be found under the station. It is an unexplored and slightly frightening place. You couldn't ask for a better adventure ground.
On the Station, everything is artificial : the lawns, the trees, the air and the gravity. No futuristic high tech gizmos exist on this Station. Everything looks like down on Earth, a nice, peaceful suburban neighbourhood. High technology is illustrated only by the Funotron, the shuttle and the control board. On the Station, there are small vehicles (like golf carts) available to get around.
An aircraft can cut through the dome, but it would cause damages.
From the Station, the Earth can be seen.
Day and night are artificial. George is the one that ensures the cycle.
Krach-Ind. knows about everything that happens on the Station. It sees what the viewer sees. No one knows how, we just accept it.
The Station's inhabitants ignore this fact obviously. They think that they alone are masters of their destiny, but….
THE LOCATIONS
The Martins’ house
Boris’ house next-door
Gran's house a little further on
Miss Schuman’s house
The school
The supermarket: you can only get products stamped with the logo "Krach Industries".
The Park: it’s a National Trust-type park except it’s made of false rock, complete with water fall, patchwork of plastic grass squares, etc… In a word, it’s the “nature reserve” - just a little fake, that’s all.
The Entertainment Area: it changes from one structure into another at the push of a button. It can be a soccer stadium, a swimming pool, a disco, you name it…
The Restaurant: it changes on demand. You have the choice of Italian, Chinese, French, fast-food, etc. There’s only one waiter-cook (Guy) adapted to the environment of the moment.
The police station: it’s run by Guy
The Warehouse: where George finds the tools to fix what's broken on the station
The Shuttle Landing Area: Boris is the pilot ensuring the link between Earth and the station.
The Basement: a veritable network of pipes, machines and waste matter.
THE MEANS OF COMMUNICATION:A Public Phone Booth - works with coins only ; it enables to call Krach Industries only.
The Television - The Martins don’t pick up Earthbound TV, except clandestinely, somewhat like the French listening to Radio London under the German Occupation. Bootleg tapes occasionally make the rounds. Krach TV is a mix of hypnotic programming and commercials: nothing too disturbing or thought-provoking here.
Boris’ Shuttle - Boris has been hired by Krach Industries to make deliveries.
Computer - The Martins have a computer but there is no plug allowing them to connect themselves with the Web. Unless Benjamin manages to pirate the telephone booth, Internet will simply remain inaccessible to them.

Miracle Star

Remember the rip-offs of Adventure Time and Steven Universe that kicked up such a storm in January?

It seems that more information on the "advertoonment" known as Miracle Star has appeared. There are Chinese subtitles throughout the episodes. If you watch Cartoon City on the European version of CCTV 4, you'll understand what I mean, as it's a standard among Chinese cartoons.
Cartoon City, here we go!

TCM HQ is becoming more "contemporary"

I've read tonight on TV With Thinus that the TCM feed that used to operate to Portugal, currently an exclusive of both DSTV and OSN, has changed their focus to become more contemporary.
My friends, this channel has dropped the usual mix of movies like Gone with the Wind, 2001: A Space Oddysey, Shaft, Casablanca and the rest slowly to make way for more contemprary movies like... uh... "The Basketball Diaries"?

In Spain, "nuestros hermanos", there are two TCM channels: TCM for contemporary movies and TCM Autor for less contemporary movies. There used to be a TCM 2 in the UK which launched as the result of an overcrowded TCM UK.

The channel really needs a new name. Not TNT because it will confuse viewers in parts of Francophone Africa (there's a provider over there called TNT Africa), so please write your suggestions in the comments.

RegularTaxi is back

You've heard it, yesterday artnerfy e-mailed me saying that he found a solution for RegularTaxi (he missed it so much) and after finding a reliable hosting service, it's back, now on the new domain of regulartaxi.ml. The links have been changed accordinglt.

Blog rebrand: eventually

OK, so during the "limited service" throughout the next couple of weeks, I'll try and insist myself in trying to rebrand. That Algerian bloke has sent me the new logo, will try and adopt it in the forthcoming days.

June is stabilizing CN HQ's schedule: some double slots had to be removed while the schedule is still the same mix of shows as always.
CN USA has eight shows on their weekday schedule, on HQ there are at least ten.
